Fun in the Sun

May was filled with playdates, the outdoors, and more milestones. The stress of wrapping up my classroom and interviewing for a new teaching position closer to home made for long and difficult days for me, but I always had my kids to look forward to at the end of the day. I realize how blessed I am, and as I look at each of these pictures and all the wonderful moments I have experienced, my heart feels so happy and thankful. Praise the Lord for all the miracles I have been given.

AJ and Abby love to play in their little playhouse. I ended up selling this playhouse and bought one a little newer with a few more bells and whistles on it.

AJ loves to throw rocks into the pond at the dog park. Here he is lounging on the picnic table after finishing a snack.
AJ was able to make his own pizza at Tyler and Hayley's house. They were fun to make, and tasted great!
Hanging out on the bench at Como with friends Tegan and Trevor.
Trevor and AJ had a blast going on some rides at Como Town. Here they are riding on the train. I laughed so hard I cried when I watched Trevor and AJ ride on the frogger hopping ride. They had so much fun, and the anticipation was almost unbearable!
AJ and Trevor also enjoyed riding on the "race cars". I don't think I am ever going to be ready for him to be sixteen!
Abby is pretty proud of herself now that she is mobile!

I think AJ's preference would be for Abby to NOT be mobile. Most of the time she just stares at him with adoration, but sometimes there is a little mischief in her eyes.
Abby coming to grab the camera out of my hands :)
I want to pinch those rosy cheeks!
This summer I was able to successfully plant a flower garden in the front and a vegetable garden in the back. AJ helped me tote tons of black dirt around in his wagon, and we were both amazed with the amount of worms we found. What fun for a three year old!
My birthday cake. Yummy!
AJ made each of his grandmas and great-grandma's an art project. He had so much fun! He is definitely a creative person, but I was also impressed with the time and patience he gave each picture.
Holding hands in the car :)
This is Grace, the kids' 3rd cousin. She just adored Abby, and Abby was very intrigued by her as well.
Abby is so fortunate that she has all of AJ's hand-me-downs. There are countless opportunities throughout the day for her to engage in thought-provoking learning. Can't you just see the wheels a-turning?
AJ helping me rake the garden.
I love the fact that Abby is able to play independently in the back yard so I can work on my garden. She loves to open and close the windows and door to the house.
AJ got his first official cleaning this month. Six months ago he went to the dentist's office to "meet" the dentist and sit in the chair. This time he had so say "AHHHH" and although he wasn't happy about it in the least, he did incredibly well. I was so proud of him! Abby even had an appointment and had her teeth checked.
He wanted to take these sunglasses home in the worst way!
AJ being silly.
Playing at the park by grammy and granpa's house.
On the boat with dad.
Having fun at the park in our neighborhood.
AJ loves to watch Adam fish, but especially when he gets to hold the fishing pole afterwards. He is a natural!

Abby enjoying a little snack on the boat.
AJ holding up the fish him and Adam caught.
I was so incredibly proud of my mother this month. She helped organize a vintage tea fundraiser for the Someplace Safe Organization - where she works. She spoke several times in front of a large crowd. I am so blessed that my mother is such a part of my life! That is one proud grandma!!! (and happy grand-baby)
Abby fighting my dad over the french fry :)
Another picture at the vintage tea fundraiser.
Abby had fun "driving" the car. She thought it was pretty cool to sit in my seat :)
Abby LOVES bath time, especially when she gets to take a bath with AJ.
Playing on the bed after her bath.
I walked into the play room and saw this. I think the drawer had already been pulled out. She cracked herself up over this !
Abby's favorite toy is my cell phone. She had climbed up onto this rocking chair without letting go of the cell phone and had the biggest smile on her face.
Abby smiling for the camera.

Easter Bunnies and Birthday Parties

April started off with celebrating Easter with family and ended with 2 birthday parties for AJ (one with friends and one with family). The kids had so much fun this month enjoying the outdoors. I can't believe AJ is already three. He continue to grow and is entering the world of tough big boy. Abby's personality continues to blossom into a sweet and affectionate little girl. I am overwelmed daily with love for these two amazing people that God has blessed me with.

Abby sporting her pink john deere shirt with grandpa at AJ's birthday party (Saturday he had a party with friends, and Sunday with family, but my parents and sister were able to stay and help out the whole weekend).

I had so much fun making this cake for AJ, and he had so much fun eating it!

I think he seems happy - what do you think?

Our craft project for his birthday was planting flowers and decorating pots. The kids had so much fun with this activity!

AJ enjoyed his time visiting with friends and being the center of attention. Trevor, Hayley, Joey, Cassandra, Sarah, Tyler, and Tegan were his guests :) (and Abby of course!)

AJ's buddy Joe.

"THE CAKE" only took half a day to make :)

Abby and AJ blowing bubbles on the porch. Abby had so much fun imitating her big brother and trying to figure out how he actually was able to make bubbles.

Bringing out the pool and slide!

Snacks on the boat. Poor AJ had to wear Abby's life jacket this day because we couldn't find his, which is blue. I don't think he minded though, as he loves the color pink - it was more Adam who didn't like his son wearing pink :)

Abby showing us how big she is.

Making music. I love her sweet smile!

Abby in her Easter outfit.

Abby and AJ posing Easter morning.

We were able to spend Easter with Adam's mom's side this year. Here is their second (maybe third?) cousing, Gracie. They enjoyed an Easter egg hunt outside at great-grandma and grandpa Literski's house.

Tegan, Abby, and AJ playing in our jumper at AJ's birthday party.

Abby loves to grab the camera out of my hands :)

AJ with his buddy, Buddy.

Eating "smores" - aka, graham crackers.

AJ really enjoying a smore by the campfire Adam built.

Abby is my little doll whom I love to dress up! Here she is at AJ's second birthday party, this time with our families.

Two teeth on the bottom, and six on the top! What a doll!

AJ's favorite present, by far, was a john deere big boy bike (his previous one was one I picked up at the second hand store, and was pink and purple with a basket). Here he is making a tough face and sporting his shades :)

Abby looks so silly, but this is how she loves to sit in the stroller :)

I got a little emotional taking this picture of AJ. Doesn't he look like such a big boy? No more little kid, that is for sure!

AJ helped me wash our van. Daycare is on a dirt road, so the van desperately needed a good scrub!
AJ had more fun running through the suds and looking at his footprints than washing the van, but the whole experience was a fun one!

Little Miss Flexible.

Abby rubs her feet together to the point that they are calloused! So cute!

Abby enjoys watching AJ at his swimming lessons.

AJ and daddy at swimming lessons. He started off hating to not be completely held and supported the first day to completely comortable holding onto only a noodle. I am so glad we enrolled him in swimming lessons!

AJ loves to play with his tractor in the corn. A farmer in the making!

A proud AJ after swimming lessons.

Abby loved playing with the plastic grass in her basket. I loved watching her in the bunny ears!

AJ getting caught sneeking another piece of chocolate!

Easter baskets. AJ enjoyed his more than Abby this year, but they both had fun looking at everything!
It was so much fun watching AJ get so excited when he found eggs, and then even more excited when he opened each egg up! I think he ate more than he saved that day! He was funny because he actually got disappointed when the eggs he opened had money, stickers, or other misc. things I stuffed in them :)
Abby trying to figure out how to open her egg :)

More chocolate!?!?

Found one!

Abby LOVES the outdoors, I think maybe even more than her brother did at this age, which seems close to impossible. We also discovered this month that not only does she like popsicles, but she will scream for more as soon as you take it away from her lips.
